Friday saw hundreds of devotees visiting temples as part of Sri Rama Navami celebrations in Koramangala. Special prayers were offered in decorated places of worship, especially in 3rd Block at Sri Kodandarama Swami Temple and in many temples across Koramangala village and also at the Indian Heritage Academy premises by Sri Rma Seva Mandali.
Apart from this, there were many roadside pandals which were erectedby the devotees who offered free ‘Panaka’ and buttermilk to the passers-by. It was a treat for the pedestrians when the temperatures were relatively high.
At Kodandarama Swami Temple, apart from special pujas there was mass feeding. A ver large gathering had a sumptuous meal at the temple premises and also at Koramangala village. In the evening the deity was taken out in a floral palanquin around the temple.
The centre of attraction was the six-day Sri Rama Navami celebrations at the Indian Heritage Academy Hall, organised by the Sri Rama Seva Mandali and Indian Heritage Academy.
The Sri Rama Navami music festival is something that Carnatic classical music lovers could ill-afford to miss. At Rama Seva Mandali, the day (Friday) began with the installation of the idol of Lord Rama, followed by puja and Abhisheka to Lord Rama. These rituals were performed with great religious fervour and gaiety. Devotees sang hymns in praise of Lord Ram to add to the gaiety and fervour of celebrations. See page 12
