‘Complete Power transmission lines’

city kemp powerOne of the major issues plaguing Karnataka’s (and South India’s) power sector is the lack of transmission grid connectivity between North and South electric grids. This makes it impossible for Karnataka to get power from central sources or buy power from private players.
Energy Minister DK Shivakumar held a crucial meeting with the Managing Director of Power Grid Corporation Limited  I S  Jha (Central Government PSU) to find a solution for these grid transmission issues.
Three crucial power transmission lines haven’t been completed.
* Kuppa-Madhugiri
*Yelahanka-Madhugiri
*Dharmapuri-Somanahalli
A detailed discussion happened as to why these projects aren’t yet completed and the way forward.
Minister asked Power Grid to finish these lines as soon as possible so that Karnataka can buy power in case of shortage, especially in a drought year like 2015.
