A good news to share. Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy’s dream project -Ejipura-Srinvagilu main road passing through Ejipura Signal connecting Sarjapur Main Road may materialise shortly.
The Minister has dashed several letters to the concerned defence authorities time and again with a view to push forward this defence land transfer issue. About 4 years back as per his wish as President of ENERA (Ejipura New Extension Residents’ Association), I too had an opportunity to join the meeting with ASC defence authorities headed by former Corporator Saroja Veerappa, BBMP Chief Engineer, other officers were present and held a detailed meeting at ASC Commmand Centre, Opposite Ejipura Signal to chalk out how to go ahead with this project.
Commanding Officer, ASC Centre was very co-operative but all depends on the clearance from his superiors. Subsequently former Mayor Manjunath Reddy also was very keen towards this ambitious project. He used his goodoffices to push forward this ambitious project along with other proposals and enterd into MoU with Defence Authorities during his tenner as Mayor. Hope our dream comes true shortly. We thank Minister Ramalinga Reddy and former Mayor Manjunath Reddy and all those who toiled for this project.
During the meeting with ASC Commanding Officer, the legal hurdle was a case pending before court. Commanding Officer requested us to pursue litigants to withdraw the case so as to make the defence land free from encumbrance. Public use of defence land between Fairland and Ejipura – Intermediary Ring Road was restrained by Defence Authorities since eighties. It was subsequently challenged by Mr.G Raju, landlord S/o Late Gundappa Gowda of Gundappa Gowda road Ejipura and trial Court passed a decree on 5th December 1988 restraining plaintiffs i.e.,Defence Authorities for the public use. This judjment was in the interest of Ejipura and Srinivagilu villagers with a view to pass through and reach their places easily. Further appeal and writ pitition dragged this issue up to High Court of Karnataka followed with contempt of court proceeding initiated by G. Raju. Since this being a sensitive issue nobody could assure them during that point of time.

It may be recalled that Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, during his tenure as defence minister last year, had met top officials of the state government and local MPs and MLAs regarding disputes over defence land at various places in the city.
The defence ministry will part with 62 acres of its land parcels in different parts of the city, and BBMP will compensate them with 207 acres in a single parcel near Anekal in Bengaluru Urban district. Following a joint inspection of the Anekal land on Tuesday, defence officials gave inprinciple approval for the land swap. Some key projects which will benefit including road construction between Ejipura Inner Ring Road and Sarjapura Main Road, elevated corridor by integrating Ejipura Ring Road and Kendriya Sadan, widening of Laskar-Hosur Road, land for JC Nagar Government School, road widening from Gangamma Circle to MS Palya in Yelahanka zone, approach road from Koramangala Ring Road to Challaghatta village.
