4th Block RWA celebrates Rajyotsava in style

The Residents Welfare Association, 4th Block, Koramangala, has celebrated 61st Kannada Rajyotsava Day on 1st Nov 2016 at Rectangle Playground in 4th Block, Koramangala. M. Chandrappa, Corporator, S. Ashok Reddy, nominated Corporator, and Govardhan Reddy, President Block Congress, Koramangala, were the guests of honour.
The function commenced with the Invocation by Smt. N. Jayamma, committee member, followed by welcome address by G M Shetty, President of the Association.
Speaking on the occasion, G M Shetty said that we are celebrating the 61st Rajyotsava Day which into existence with effect from 1st Nov 1956 as Mysore State, after the amalgamation of some districts from erstwhile Bombay, Madras and Hyderabad states etc. Later, the name of Mysore State was changed to Karnataka State in 1973 during Chief Ministership of late D Devaraj Urs. Further, Sri. Shetty added that this day is being celebrated by almost all Kannadigas who reside in different places in India as well as abroad.
K S Shankar Rao, Ex-Gen-Secretary of the Association, while speaking on the occasion, said that all the people who resided in Karnataka should learn and speak Kannada.
M Chandrappa, Corporator, has hoisted the Karnataka flag, which was followed by singing of ‘Naada Geethe’ by the gathering.
Thereafter, prizes and certificates to the winners in Sports Day which was conducted by the RWA on 23 Oct 2016 were given by the chief guests. This was applauded by and commended by one and all.
About 250 residents attended the function and the function was concluded with vote of thanks and distribution of sweets.
