Union Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizer Ananth Kumar inaugurated the Health kiosk at Attiguppe in Bengaluru being run by the BBMP under the National Health Misssion. Speaking on the occasion he said such health kiosks which render free service on basic health check ups should be started in each wards of Vijaynanagar and Govindrajnanagar segments of the city and other wards of Bengaluru too.
Ananth Kumar inaugurated the new office of BBMP Councillor of Shakambarinagara, Malati Somashekhar at Jayanagar. Speaking to the media persons Ananth Kumar said the Government of India is ready to establish Jan Aushadhi stores (which cater the generic medicines) to provide medicines at lower prices to the patients and senior citizens but despite letter and requests the state government hasn’t come up with the proposal yet. 7 other state governments have already started. He said if the BBMP comes forward to open Jan Aushadhi stores the Union Government is ready to support and fund 100 such stores in Bengaluru, which will help the common man. He called upon the BBMP to come forward with a proposal for the Jan Aushadhi stores.
Ananth Kumar said the union government is preparing a project for cities “Waste-to-Compost” to tackle the issue of waste in urban areas. There is a proposal to extend subsidy for the compost manure produced out of the waste on the lines of subsidy presently being extended to Urea, DAP and other fertilizers. He said the proposal will be before the union cabinet in the coming days.
