Citizens up in arms on CA Site Allotment to Petrol Pump

Citizens of Koramangala are up in arms over the reported decision of the BDA to allot a Civic Amenity Site on 8th Main Road, 4th Block for construction of a Petrol Pump.
The site in question, CA Site 29 was originally allotted to one Bogharam Trust for construction of a choultry. After the Trust in question became defunct, BDA is reported to have initiated steps for cancellation of the allotment.
What has got citizens extremely upset is that the High Court of Karnataka in a landmark judgement in 2001 called the ” Heble judgement” had specifically prohibited BDA from allotting further civic amenity sites in Koramangala for any purposes other than Park or Playground.
Lung space in a rapidly growing area of the city like Koramangala is at a premium and citizens are determined to resist the attempt to bypass High Court orders.
Citizens have given in a protest letter to the BDA Commissioner Sham Bhatt with a copy to the Chief Secretary, Kaushik Mukherjee. They have pointed out in their letter that BDA’s proposed actions will run the risk of contempt of court and that a Contempt petition would be filed if BDA went ahead with its plans.
