Centre for Action, Research and Technology for Man, Animal and Nature (CARTMAN) organised a program on Urban Biodiversity.
As part of this, they organised a special programme for govt school children and college students on December 8 at the CARTMAN Eco Park in Koramangala 6th Block. The event was supported by Ministry of Environment and Forest and Karnataka Rajya Vijnana Parishat.
The children’s programme consisted of painting competition and keynote address to the college students by renowned scientist and environmentalist Dr Harish Bhat from Indian Institute of Science, Centre for Ecological Sciences.
He touched on the growth and development of the city of Bengaluru from the eighteenth century to the present times. A powerpoint presentation with rare photographs was one of the highlights.
What the students enjoyed the most was the planting of saplings(flowering and fruiting) and putting up signages on the respective plants and trees of CARTMAN. It was an eventful day at CARTMAN.
