Last Wednesday saw hundreds of devotees visiting temples as part of Sri Rama Navami celebrations in Koramangala.
Special prayers were performed in decorated places of worship especially in 3rd block at Sri Kodandarama Swami temple, in many temples across 8th block and also at the Indian Heritage Academy premises which was organised by Sri Rama Seva Mandali.
At Koramangala village, apart from Ramanavami there was Village Fest where large number of people took part. In the evening the deities were taken in a floral palanquins around the village. Ln Chamundeshwari Reddy, Corporator M Chandrappa took part in the festivity.
Apart from this, there were many roadside pandals that were erected by the devotees offered free ‘Panaka’ and buttermilk to the passers-by.
It was a treat for the pedestrians when the temperatures were relatively high.
The centre of attraction was the six-day Sri Rama Navami celebrations at Indian Heritage Academy hall organised under the auspices of Sri Rama Seva Mandali.
The Sri Rama Navami music festival is something that Carnatic classical music lovers could ill-afford to miss. At Rama Seva Mandali, the day began with installation of the idol followed by pooja and Abhisheka to Lord Rama. Earlier some devotees sang hymns in praise of Lord Ram to add to the gaiety and fervour of celebrations.
In the evening, there was Vocal concert by Vidushi Meghana Moorthy. She was accompanied by Vid Vaibhav Ramani on violin, Vid V R Chandrashekar on mridangam, Vid B R Ravi Kumar on ghatam.
The next day April 6, there was Vocal concert by Vid Vinay Sharva S R. He was accompanied by Vid B Raghuram on violin, Vid B C Manjunath on the Mridangam and Vidwan Bharadwaj R S on morsing.
On April 7, there was Hindustani Classical vocal and devotional songs recital by Vid H G Chaitra (Playback singer), Vid H S Gopinath on tabla accompanied. This programme was well attended..
