S T Bed residents on 4th cross and adjoining areas of the layout were stunned in disbelief when they received black color contaminated water mixed with sewage on 28th June 2017.
For Residents of S T Bed this is nothing new as they have been facing water contamination problem for the past several years.
Several people have fallen sick in the layout, lot of residents have complained of vomiting and dysentery. In spite of repeatedly informing BWSSB to look into the problem and find a permanent solution to this very serious health problem, they are yet to find a solution to solve the problem.
BWSSB is unable to find where exactly the sewage water is getting mixed with Cauvery water pipelines, ST Bed RWA as well as several residents have been repeatedly complaining over the past 4 years to identify the spots where sewage water is getting mixed with Cauvery water pipelines either in water pipe joints or due to some broken pipes under the ground. With Jetting machines they clear the manholes or broken pipes are repaired whenever there is some problem, which doesn’t solve the problem recurring time and again.
What is really shocking to know is how can the sewage water mix with Cauvery water pipelines when pipes are on opposing sides of the road. Manholes are always full of sewage as low lying area and poor gradient add to the misery of the residents time and again.
Residents are fed up to hear the same old excuses from officials without finding a permanent solution to this burning issue which has been affecting the lives of S T Bed residents for a long time.

It is really shocking and disgusting to go through this serious problem of water contamination time and again in S T Bed. Just imagine that people have to drink water mixed with sewage. Officials have to ensure safe and clean drinking water to residents. They have to identify the spots where sewage is getting mixed with Cauvery water

The agencies are expressing difficulty in identifying the spots where contamination happens. It is surprising as the sewage lines and the water lines are supposed to run on different side of the roads. The agency should identify the places where it is running side by side and take measures to shift the same immediately.
The agency rectifies the issue and it will last for a couple of years and occur again. The spots where the water lines cross the sewage lines are to be checked first. To do this the agency should develop a mechanism. The major excuse in S T Bed is the concrete roads

Water contamination and mosquito menace is a major health issue in S.T bed,it’s a expensive and painful experience for ST bed residents to keep cleaning the tanks quite often.I request the authorities toindentify the spots and solve the issue at the earliest.

The work by Bwssb is not up to the mark with the same work being repeatedly being done at the same site, contamination of sewage with water lines is one of the most negligent acts that can be done by Bwssb, they are not supervising the S T bed layout on a regular basis and if they would have done so they would have spotted the leak or at least identified the culprits due to whom the water contamination is happening the layout—its high time that we charge senior officers of Bwssb for criminal negligence of their public duty of which they miserably failed, contamination has led to various diseases, not to speak of increase in costs for sump cleaning and purchase of water from tankers. Many families cannot afford this cost in their monthly budget it is a crying shame that Bwssb is acting like Nero when Rome is being burned

1 sewage mixing spot traced
The drinking water supplied to ST Bed Layout was contaminated with sewage because Sraddha Sunshine Apartments in 5th main road which was leaving the sewage directly to side drains which are meant only for rain water.
This sewage was flowing into the side drains of ST Bed Layout and was causing the contamination of drinking water. This was brought to the notice of the concerned authorities by the ST Bed Layout RWA President, Rajendra Babu who urged them to take action on them and plugged the leakage. He has requested the BWSSB and BBMP authorities to take the required permanent preventive actions regarding this contamination in future.
After this, BWSSB engineer, Naveen and Rajendra Babu took action by plugging the sewage outlets from that apartment and ordered the apartment incharge to take a necessary action at earliest else penalties will be imposed.
