Residents of Koramangala under the banner of Koramangala Infrastructure Task Force, have brought to the notice of the State Government of attempts being made by some vested interests to corner a Civic Amenity Site in 4th Block of Koramangala. This irregularity has been observed by the residents after obtaining documents through RTI
In a communication addressed to the Chief Secretary of Karnataka Kaushik Mukherjee, residents of Koramangala have drawn his attention to attempts being made by some vested interests to corner a Civic Amenity Site in Koramangala.
The communication was sent by the Koramangala Infrastructure Task Force, comprising individuals from all over Koramangala.
The site, designated as Civic Amenity Site 29 is located on 8th Main Road in 4th Block near a Church. The land was originally assigned to a trust called Bogharam Trust for construction of a choultry. The trust is now no longer in existence.
However, in the year 2009 during the Chief Ministership of Yeddyurappa, the land in question was first re-assigned to another education trust and then later recommended for denotification.
The denotification would have the effect of transferring prime property to private individuals for a song.
Copies of the communication addressed to the Chief Secretary have also been sent to ACS, Urban Development Department for action.
Fortunately, the denotification recommended in 2009 was never gazetted due to a change in Government.
However, citizens discovered through documents obtained through RTI that efforts are still underway by vested interests to have the old recommendation gazetted.
