City Kemp News

With all the understandable anguish and concern expressed by residents of Bengaluru over the past few days on possible drinking water shortages in Bengaluru on account of Karnataka being deprived of its fair share of Cauvery waters it is surprising that BWSSB continues to be indifferent to the huge problem of leakages and wastage of water.
Residents of 9th Main Road in Koramangala 3rd Block on Saturday woke up to find water gushing out of a broken water pipe.
Even after hours of follow up the leak had not been attended. When residents contacted the local BWSSB office, the reply came was ‘busy with other work and will attend soon.’ Till evening when we went to press, the water was flowing and none came to attend.
Wastage of water is estimated to account for 50 percent of total Cauvery water supplied to Bengaluru.
BWSSB needs to be vigilant on all instances of water leakage and set up a special task force to rush to leakage sites and attend within an hour. Bengaluru cannot afford any water wastage at this juncture.
