Rotary Koramangala elects President & Board of Directors for 2016-17
Rotary is a worldwide organization of more than 1.22 million members of businessmen, professionals and community leaders united with the idea of service. Rotary has more than 35000 clubs spread around the world. Rotary club of Bangalore – Koramangala –RCBK, chartered in 1986 has been serving the local community and participating in Rotary global events that promotes peace and international understanding. Avoidable Blindness has been one of the stellar projects of Rotary Koramangala under which it supported hundreds of free cataract surgeries and eye care to the underprivileged.
Establishing a vocational centre at Chembanahalli village, distributing solar lamps, note books, dictionaries, school benches, tree plantations, toilets in government schools, organising health and blood donation camps were other projects taken up by the Rotary Koramangala in the last several years.
Rotary Koramangala recently elected a new team to lead the club. Installation function was held at Builders NGV Club Koramangala on Saturday 2 July. The club for the year 2016-17 will be led by President Rtn Shambhu Sharma H. , who took over as 31st President of Rotary Koramangala alongwith Secretary Rtn Hari Venkatesh and Board members. Past District Governor and Rotary Coordinator – Zone 5 Rtn Rajendra Rai presented the badges and pins to the incoming board. Also present on the installation nite was Rtn Fazal Mahmood – Zone Governor and Rtn Shivakumar J –Assistant Governor, as Guests of Honor.
President Rtn Shambhu Sharma in his speech talked about the plans for the year with focus on community development, education and health. He spoke about the good work done in the past and reiterated it will be continued with greater fervour. To emphasize the importance of service he ended his speech quoting Gandhiji “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others”. On this occasion a club Roster and a Souvenir detailing the projects carried out in the last several years with messages from Rotary leaders were released by PDG Rtn Rajendra Rai.
