KSRTC has organized the World Environment Day stage program and unveiling of 1947 Bus On 6th June 2016 at 11-00 am at KSRTC, Central Office, Bengaluru. Sri Banashankari 1947 bus was unveiled by Ramalinga Reddy, Minister for Transport, T.S.Nagabharana, Film Director, Kum.Mayuri, Actress, Arjun Devaiah, International Athlete, Rajendar Kumar Kataria, Managing Director, KSRTC, Dr Lohith D Nayker, Vice chairmen, KSRTC and other respected invitees were presented on the occasion.
• Transport Minister planted a sapling during World Environment Day programme.
• Environment Brochures has been released containing the Environment friendly activities and initiatives of KSRTC .

Body built by: Brond Ford Coach Body Limited, Cannada.
History: The Tractor of the vehicle is BEDFORD make with modified perkins P6 engine fitted. The vehicle became the property of MGRTD after the re-organization of States in 1956. The bus was in use in Vijayapura (Bijapur) Division from 1947. The body of the vehicle was later reconditioned and put to use in 1968. Later the vehicle was withdrawn from operation as a passenger vehicle and was used as a special vehicle to carry the staff mainly drawn for the fair operations at Banashankari and Savadatti in Northern Karnataka. Hence named as “BANASHANKARI”
