The KSRTC has been conferred with ASRTU Excellence Award for the 2nd year in a row in the category of “Alternate Fuel and Environment Management” on March 22. The Award was given during 60th Annual Conference of STU’s held at Bangalore, by Arvind Jadhav, Chief Secretary to Rajender Kumar Kataria, Managing Director, KSRTC. Pankaj Kumar, Vice President ASRTU, VC&MD Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation and Dr.E.V Ramana Reddy, Principal Secretary, Transport Department.
The details of the Award winning project: ‘PRAKRUTHI – For a clean environment’: PRAKRUTHI is the first of its kind initiative by any Road Transport Organizations in India. The project is implemented through the introduction of Emission Testing Shuttles, which commute across its network, to check the emission and noise levels of the buses. PRAKRUTI is equipped with the advanced technology Smoke Meter and Sound Level Meter. They examine the carbon foot print levels, and also address the standards to control air and noise pollution. These shuttles are also the brand ambassadors spreading the message of environment conscience.
ASRTU – is an Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASRTU), a body under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Govt. of India. It consists of representative body of 62 members from different states in the country, every year they recognize the initiative and performance of the State Road Transport Undertaking and confer the Awards.

Rajender Kumar Kataria, Managing Director, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, has been unanimously elected as Vice-President by the MD’s of the State Road Transport Corporations of the country of the Association of State Road Transport Undertakings. The Secretary to Government, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, is president of the association, which came into existence in 1965 and constituted under Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Govt.of India.
The 50th annual general body meeting of the association was held in Bengaluru in which Kataria was elected. ASRTU was formed to bring together all the State road transport undertakings on a common platform
