On Valentine’s Day, for some, it was a memorable night as they went on Night Trek to Kabbaladurga. All they were a team of 35 including women who enjoyed nature’s beauty at night by climbing the rocky hill near Kanakapura about 70 kilometres from the City. This night trek was organised for the first time in the history of Koramangala Club under the guidance of B G Kapanipathi through Bengaluru Mountaineering Club.
It was exciting and adventurous. Most of the trekkers carried trek experience in the night. However it was first time for many during the night. It took nearly two and a half hours to reach atop. The participants enjoyed nature on top, slept on rocks with sleeping bag treks. Early morning sunrise view was fantastic.
Kabbaladurga is a rocky, monolithic hillock. This trekking destination overlooks the sleepy village of Kabala. Trekking in Kabbaladurga is special not only for its proximity to Bengaluru and Mysuru but also for the two contrasting trekking routes on the hillock. The trek routes commence from Kabbala village. The easier route to the peak is ideal for families, new trekkers and those enthusiastic about climbing hills. The tougher route challenges physical fitness and mental strength. The peak is at a height of 3600 ft. approx. The peak is home to the temple of Goddess Kabbalamma and had derived its name from the temple and the ruins of a fort. It is green, rocky and serene. The view from the top is unique.
Every trekker returns from Kabbaladurga with a different experience but an undoubtedly huge bundle of indelible memories. The Koramangala Club provided soft drinks and breakfast to all during the return, next morning. The next trek is on March 14 to Ramadevara Betta with Adventure Sports.
