Sunday evening (March 13) was the second year celebrations of Purandara Tyagaraja aradhana mahotsava at Sri Subrahmanya Matha, HSR Layout in association with Parimala sangeeta vidyalaya managed by Kanchi Kamakoti Asthana Vidwan Sri. Ananthapadmanabha Rao.
The evening program started with lighting of lamps and inaugurating the program. The lamp was lit by senior industrialist K K Kini, Vidwan Ananthapadmanabha Rao, Vidwan MKN Acharya, Vidushi Shobha Kukke and Vijayaprasad advisor Subrahmanya Matha.
The program was started with Chatur Veena vadana by Vidwan MKN Acharya and his disciples from Raghu school of music. Wonderful rendition of Tyagaraja kriti Teliyaleru rama, Manasa yetulo and Purandara dasa kritis followed by group vocal rendition by Vidushi Smt. Shoba Kukke and disciples. The group focused on giving popular devaranamas of Purandara dasaru like Yenagu aane ranga.
After group renditions we had solo performers like Vidwan Pavandeep who mesmerized the whole audience by his kriti and a devaranama followed by a purandara dasa nama by Smt. Sumathi and the final solo rendition was given by Vidwan Ananthapadmanabha Rao again singing a Kriti and a devaranama with his heavy and soulful voice which brought a great applause from the audience.
6:30pm was when the most awaited Tyagaraja Panchratna Goshti which began with Mythili Jaganathan, Shobha Kukke and Geetha Satyamurthy leading the lady artists, violin support by Soumya Ramachandran, Vidwan Ananthapadmanabha Rao, Pavandeep and MKN Acharya leading the men’s group and Balasubramanian, Srikanth, Prasad, Vadiraj Bhat and others prominently on the laya instruments and Lakshminarayan on Moorching took the whole crowd of audience to new location where people were in trans. Audience did not realize when Yendaro Mahanubhavulu ended with a mangalam.
The audience thanked Kanchi Kamakoti Asthana Vidwan Ananthapadmanabha Rao and all other artists who gave their best support for this program to take a new dimension. It was honour that Ravishankar, President of Sama gana sabha to be a part of this occasion.
The conclusion came up with Purandara dasa photo giving us blessing in the form of flowers falling down. Nothing to beat the joy of artists and people.
