TablaGyan – School of Music, based at ST Bed Layout, Koramangala 4th block, recently kicked off its GHAR BAITHAK concert series with an concert at one of its students’ place in HSR Layout.The host this time was Lakshya Nayyar, a senior meritorious student of TablaGyan.
The finest memories of a typical “Sangeet Baithak” which used to happen in olden days, was much remembered through this concert. This concept is almost extinct in today’s busy life.
The Ghar Baithak series comes under the umbrella of “TAAL SAMVAAD “- a concept of TablaGyan, which introduces music baithaks, music workshops, music therapies, retreat camps etc.
This Ghar Baithak concert featured Tabla Solo renditions by talented young students of TablaGyan school. It also comprised of Tabla accompaniment by senior students of the school with hindustani vocal singers of other schools.
Finally it concluded with a serene hindustani flute performance by the guest artist Prithwin Rajeev, who is a student of renowned flutist Prakash Hegde Kallaremane from Sirsi. Prithwin was accompanied by senior most student of TablaGyan – Kaushal Narayan who is right now pursuing tabla training since 4+ years, under the able guidance of Dilip Puranik, the founder of TablaGyan.
The solo and the accompaniment skills by the TablaGyan students were much applauded by the packed audience. A word of advice by the architect of the school – Dilip Puranik emphasized the importance of this concert and how it brought about a sense of motivation and upbringing in the minds of young budding artists.
Dilip Puranik is a Tabla Artist, performer and teacher, trained in Punjabi, Delhi and Banaras Gharanas of Hindustani Classical Tabla. TablaGyan – School of Music is his brainchild and is now 15 years old. The school currently boasts of training 200+ students in Tabla alone including foreign nationals. TablaGyan believes in “Play the Music , not the instrument” principle. Puranik has a vision of collaborating with other music schools in and around koramangala to conduct such events in order to exchange music and encourage music lovers and learners to hone their accompaniment and performance skills..
