Green Ambassador Program

Green Ambassador Program was launched at Government First Grade Degree College, HSR Layout on February 3
Bengaluru Political Action Committee(B.PAC) in association with Shell MRPL Aviation Fuels & Services Ltd kick started Green Ambassador Program (GAP) at Government First Grade Degree College, HSR Layout with the emphasis to create interest & awareness on urban environmental issues.
Our city’s urban issues are complex and we are in need of more number ofenvironmental leaders to solve the problems. With this objective, B.PAC has designed the Green Ambassador Program to create environment champions leaders with and thus have active citizen participation and corporate support.
The program will train participants on issues related to Waste management. Thestudents will undergo 6 hours of class room training session and various field activities such as awareness drives, cleanup drives, waste minimization activities etc. B.PAC will mentor these participants during the field project phase. As a part of the training, participating students will be taken on field exposure visits.
Speaking during the inaugural session  K Amaranarayan, Rtd. IAS officer (Former Commissioner for Transport, GoK) and a passionate environment enthusiast stressed on theimportance of youth participation in community development in the areas of waste management. He distributed cloth bags to students and urged them to use cloth bags instead of plastic.  He congratulated B.PAC and Shell MRPL Aviation Fuels & Services Ltd. for initiating the internship program spearheaded by B. CLIP participant Kavitha Reddy.
Ananda Gundurao, Member B.PAC while introducing the program and the its relevance need to the students said. “With the “GAP Program “we want to make these students environmentally sensitive and give them an opportunity to showcase theirleadership skills and creativity by taking up projects in HSR layout. “
Today’s inaugural session saw more than 100 students from Government College enroll for the program. The students willshall be working with the Hasiru Mithra Citizen group  of HSR Layout, under leadership of Kavitha Reddy on projects in and around HSR layout.
