Segregate waste at source or else be ready to pay fine of Rs 1,000
As part of BBMP’s programme to create awareness on waste segregation, Mayor B N Manjunatha Reddy inaugurated on Friday 10 mobile vans which will pass through different areas of the city carrying a message on the benefits of segregation.
One van had arrived in Koramangala on Saturday.
l There are 23 lakh buildings in Bengaluru which generate 3,500 tonnes of waste per day.
l BBMP has established nine wet waste management units that have 2,300 tonnes capacity.
l BBMP has opened 189 dry waste collection centres and 16 bio-methanisation units.
l BBMP has opened a 40-tonne pellet unit near Freedom Park.
