Sri Vinayaka Mitra Mandali – Jayanagar 8th block, 1st A main road celebrated its 34th Vinayakotsava by conducting events which had immense support and response than the previous years.
On a bright day started with installation of Lord Ganesha by performing Pooja in presence of all localities residents. Later in the evening, 1st event of the Ganeshotsava – A music show by Sri Mallikarjun Samsi. The program started with a great classical Alaap & continued with various classical songs.
Second day, the program was totally of a different genre. A light music show by Sunitha (Jogi fame) & party. The show was started with a song tribute to Lord Ganapa and continued with greatest hits of all time Kannada folk songs. People around 1000 hummed to various folk songs and enjoyed the show.
Third day, Jugalbandhi by Kadari Gopalnath and Praveen Godkhindi. Kadri Gopalnath- an Indian saxophonist and one of the pioneers of Carnatic music on the saxophone & Pandit Pravin Godkhindi – a flute player following the Hindustani style of music. Two maestros started the show with Vathapi & continued to play all time classical raagas. One of the famous compositions from album “RAAGA RANG” received a massive response & the show was winded up by playing Bhagyada Lakshmi Baramma. Overall the show was totally different from last two events & happened to be the most successful event in recent years with around 2500+ people gathered.
On the day next morning i.e. 20th September ‘Ganapathi Homa’ was arranged with two couples being the main ‘karthru’s. This is a regular annual feature on the last day of event and this time too there were as many as who had contributed the amount as part of “Samoohika Ganapathi Homa’ karthrus.
The same evening the procession of the ‘decorated Lord’ was taken out in the streets of the locality with ‘Nadaswaram’, Bangra and ‘band set’ accompanying the Lord and a huge following of devotees singing and dancing to the delight of on lookers throughout.
The residents of the locality welcomed the ‘Lord’ with rangolis in front of their houses and offering coconut / flowers / dhoop and arati in a plate and receiving His blessings. The procession reached premises of Mandali at around 10.30 p.m and arrangements were made such that the localites were able to watch the immersion of idol. Lord Ganesha went back to the waters there at with shouts of ‘Ganeshabanda – kaayi, kadabu tinda and ‘Ganapathi bappa moriya’ renting the air throughout the procession / immersion with piety and divinity.
