Nadasurabhi Cultural Association will be organising a grand vocal recital by Vidwan Sikkil Gurucharan on Sunday, July 19 at 4.15 pm at the Indian Heritage Academy Hall in 6th Block, Koramangala.
Vidwan H K Venkatram on Violin, Vidwan Arjun Kumaron Mridangam, and Vidwan Giridhar Udupa on Ghatam, will accompany the artiste.
Sikkil C Gurucharan is among the foremost young performing musicians of Carnatic music in India today. He is the grandson of Sikkil Kunjumani, of the famous Sikkil Sisters. He is an ‘A’ grade All India Radio artiste. Gurucharan has performed extensively in India and abroad, and also won numerous awards and titles including Isai PeroLi, Yuva kala bharathi, Isai chudar and Naada oLi. Also, Sikkil Gurucharan and pianist Anil Srinivasan, have brought together the Carnatic vocal music and classical piano to create a new music format which has been well received. Senior artistes from Bangalore, Venkatram, Arjun Kumar and Giridhar Udupa will be accompanying Sikkil Gurucharan in this concert.
August Programme: Nadasurabhi will hold its Annual Karnataka Vaibhava Festival on the 15th and 16th August 2015, featuring talented young musicians from Karnataka.
“Nadasurabhi takes music to schools” initiative: To start with, it has already conducted Music Appreciation programmes in few schools in and around Koramangala. Also, it is helping schools to get good carnatic music teachers to train children in Indian Classical Music.
