On Monday, Bengaluru District Incharge Minister and Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy along with BBMP Administrator T M Vijaya Bhaskar and BBMP Commissioner G Kumar Naik along with officials visited Koramangala to inspect the pending works that have been sanctioned already.
The first location was in Jakkasandra where works worth Rs 4 crore to desilt and construct retaining wall across Storm Water Drain had been put on hold.
After this, the team inspected 5th Cross near Maharaja Hotel junction in Koramangala 4th Block where concretisation of 5th Cross from Chinmaya School Road to 12th Main had been put on hold.
There, the residents led by Koramangala 4th Block Residents’ Welfare Association President G M Shetty, along with Krishna Reddy, Subba Reddy and Rakesh Roshan, Ejipura New Extension Residents’ Association (ENERA) President Ravindra Kumar, Koramangala Ward Congress President Govardhan Reddy, Govinda Rao and others apprised of the problems faced by the residents of 4th Block whenever it rained.
The residents said that already, the 3rd Cross and 4th Cross have been concreted, but 5th Cross which would be badly affected whenever it rained needs to be concreted at the earliest. Also the residents sought for desilting of secondary Storm Water Drain that passes along the 12th Main Road.
G M Shetty, President of 4th Block RWA and other committee members, complained of water logging in 5th Cross, 4th Cross and other adjoining areas due to reverse flow of rain water from the main storm water drain.
Also they sought for concreting of 5th Cross between between 12th Main and 15th Main, desilting of secondary drain in 12th Main, asphalting of 12th Main, desilting of other tertiary drains etc.
The Administrator agreed to it and also assured to include the desilting of the secondary SWD work in it.
BBMP Executive Engineer Jagannath, AEE Yogesh, AE Shivalingappa and others were present.
With T M Vijaya Bhaskar taking charge as the BBMP Administrator in April third week, he put on hold all the works of BBMP that had been sanctioned. Reason: BBMP is in debts and there are allegations of large scale misappropriation of funds.
