BSSF team to take part in Children’s Olympics

Bangalore Schools Sports Foundation (BSSF) will be representing the 49th International Children’s Games (Children’s Olympics) ALKMAAR –Netherlands from June 24 to 29. A team of 10 athletes (under 15 boys and girls) from various schools across the city would be participating  in the Children’s olympics.
The International Children’s Games (Children’s Olympics), endorsed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), has been successful in hosting the Games since 1968. BSSF initiated by Elvis Joseph former athlete currently sports management professional took the initiative to have Bangalore City make its first historic representation at Athens Greece in 2009.The foundation has been successfully in fielding the under 15 Boys and Girls team at the ICG for the past six years. Now for the first time in history an under 15 boys and girls track & field team will be competing at a global competition. Keeping the flag high, a team of 10 athletes along with 2 coaches will be representing the 49 International Children Games at Alkmaar Netherlands.
Athletes : Boys : Shervin Pinto (St Josephs Indian High School) 100 Mts & 4×100 Relay; Yashas Ravi (St Josephs Indian High School) Long Jump & 4×100 Relay; Rahul Raghu (Vidyaniketan School) High Jump & 4×100 Relay; Manik prabhu (Sneha Care Home) 100 Mts 4×100 Relay; Babu Seenappa (Sneha Care Home) 1500 Mts.
Girls: Andrea Pinto (Legacy International School) 100 Mts Long Jump& 4×100 Relay; Aadya Madapanda (Sophia Girls High School) Shortput; Lochana Bopanna (KALS) High Jump & 4×100 Relay; Lisa Karippa (Army School) 100 Mts & 4×100 Relay; Tejaswini Girish (Cathedral High School) 800 Mts & 4×100 Relay.  Coaches: Krishnamurthy  S, and  Shilpa Sunder; Head of delegation: Elvis Joseph; City Ambassador: Reeth Abraham.
Elvis Joseph, Director, BSSF said, “In India, we have ample young talent; however what we lack is the infrastructure and opportunities to ensure that the young children get proper training and guidance.”
