Youngsters celebrate launch of playground floodlights

city kemp 146g 162g 166gTwo senior citizens and residents of Koramangala 3rd Block – Lata Heble and Y V Pai dedicated the newly installed flood lights to the Volleyball court, Basketball court and the pathway around the play area in presence of a large gathering of residents and representatives of various RWAs in Koramangala on Friday.
The Minister Ramalinga Reddy graced the  occasion. The cost of the works is estimated at Rs 7 lakh.
Ajay Reddy, President of the Koramangala 3rd Block Welfare Association welcomed the gathering. Congress leader Radhakrishna, Koramangala Ward Congress President Govardhan Reddy, Koramangala 4trh Block Welfare Association President G M Shetty, Regie Thomas (Secretary of 3rd Block RWA), Dr Umeshwara from Koramangala 5th Block, Krishna Reddy, Ashok Reddy, Vishwanath, Abbas and other residents from Kudremukh Colony, Venkat Iyer, Nitin, Ajay Reddy, Kishan Naik, Sampath, Uma Pai, Rohan, Nasir and many others were present.

Children and youth at Koramangala 3rd Block are benefiting from improvements that put sport at centre stage.  Floodlights have been installed at the Children’s Play area adjacent to the 3rd Block Playground on 12th Main Road and now play activities will be able to continue until 9 pm all year round. The lights have automatic timer which switches on at 6.30pm and will go off at 9 pm. The residents thanked the District Incharge Minister Ramalinga Reddy for granting funds through MLA grant. A second phase of improvements will see the installation of floodlights to the main playground, granite slabs for the gallery with covered roof.
The work on the gallery is going on, while the other works are at the tendering stage. The grounds are not just used by the children – they are also popular with members of the surrounding community.
People of different ages and cultures play along side each other, giving the children positive role models by seeing adults and young people enjoying the same space.
