Students are always encouraged to devote themselves towards the upliftment of humanity and to be altruistic at Jain University. In keeping with these values, Jain University in association with National Service Scheme (NSS) and Kidwai Institute of Oncology organized a blood donation camp.
About 200 people registered for blood donation, out of which, 103 candidates were able to donate blood as the donors went through a series of medical checkups before donating blood.
According to Dr. Madhavi, Kidwai Institute of Oncology, who aided in the camp, “Blood donation is the easiest way to save lives. It costs nothing, and the body will replenish the blood, which has been donated. In case of an emergency, it is always the necessity of blood that takes precedence, and can save a life. We have collected almost 100 units of blood; this will fulfill a two-day requirement at our hospital. I applaud the young people, who have participated in this endeavor.”
Student donor Megha Shyam, of third year B.Com, shared his views “I donate blood regularly in these kind of events. Blood cannot be manufactured as other things can, it can only be given to save lives. This is an opportunity to make a difference.”
Sruthi Mallya, third year B.Com student, said, “As a girl, I have heard numerous times that isn’t safe to donate blood. I have donated nearly five times, and it has not caused any problems for me. I like the fact I can be socially responsible, and can indirectly save someone’s life.”
