Karate Champion: N Tejas

Nine year old Tejas N, studying 3rd standard in Bethany High School, Koramangala, won the Gold medal in the 29th All India Karate-Do Federation (AIKF) National Karate Championship in the blue belt category held on 30th Dec 2017 at Andheri sports complex, Mumbai. Tejas won the Gold Medal in the Kumithe, Silver medal in Team Katta and Bronze in the Katta. Earlier he had won inter-school, District and State Karate Championships.
He was trained under KEN-EI-MABUNI Shito-Ryu-KARATE school of India, by his coach Sensei Jagadish who is a Karate National Champion twice under black belt and by Renshi R Ganesh who is a VI DAN black belt from Japan. He is also the General Secretary – KMSKSI and the vice President of AIKF. Tejas is the youngest son of Dr. Asha who is a senior consultant Anesthesiologist and Niranjan N Naik, National sales head at Bosch. Tejas takes inspiration from his elder brother Thushar, who is a trained football player and played for Claydon, England. He also plays cricket for the school team and has scored 6 th rank in the Zone in International English Olympiad exams. Multi talanted Tejas is also learning Hindustani Classical Music under the guidance of Vidushi Rohini Gangadhar.
