Swachagraha: Awareness on SWM

Swachagraha is committed to citizen involvement in keeping our city clean. Part of its initiatives include spreading awareness of solid waste management including segregation of waste at source, home composting and responsible waste management. The campaign seeks to promote collaboration between civil society, organizations, corporations and government to address the problem of solid waste.
As a part of its activities, Ms Smitha Kulkarni of Swachagraha reached out to Koramangala 6th Block Residents Welfare Association while setting up a stall at Koramangala Indoor Stadium near N.G.V. at a Pre-Marathon event in relation to the Tata Consultancy Service( T.C.S ) annual 10K marathon. From the 6th Block RWA, Mrs Archana Murthy and Mrs Usha Ravindranath@ Uma participated as volunteers and also managed the stalls. Visitors at the event were taken through various aspects of waste segregation easy and effective methods of composting, ill-effects of plastic and also about effective use of menstrual cups which is more hygienic, economical and Eco-friendly method that can be adopted by women. The 3 day event saw a large number of visitors, particular from our youths.
The response was very good, with many of the visitors listening to the volunteers with much interest while committing themselves to adopt best practices in waste management.
