At a lively and contentious public hearing held on 19th January at NMKRV college Jayanagar , residents and RWAs falling within BBMP South presented objections to the RMP 2031 planning document.
Many RWAs in Jayanagar, Koramangala and Basavangudi areas participated. A common theme was that the BBMP should crack down hard on commercial establishments in residential areas. Many representatives also bought out the issues of water power and infrastructure planning and wondered how the BDA is planning for a huge population increase without addressing these deficiencies.
BDA Commissioner Rajkumar Khatri, Town planning member of the BDA, Jayanagar MLA BN Vijaykumar, former Mayor of Bengaluru Katte Sathyanarayana were among those present.
The interaction is being held zone wise. The next step is to prepare a draft RMP and have a series of consultations on the Draft plan.
A series of road maps showing land use at present was also shown and displayed at the venue.
BDA Commissioner Khatri addressed the gathering and promised that citizens suggestions would be taken seriously and considered.
