KSRTC celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8 and honoured wives of martyrs – Mahadevi Koppad and Asha Nagesh; besides issued free Bus Pass to martyrs family – wife, children and parents at KSRTC Central Office.
Transport Minister. Ramalinga Reddy gave Rs. 50,000/- cash to each martyr family on his personal capacity.

On this occasion KSRTC honoured totally 32 women employees, i.e., one lady conductor & lady mechanic each of 17 divisions of KSRTC for their good work
During this event KSRTC honoured wives of martyr soldiers hit by an avalanche in Siachen glacier Madevi Koppad, wife of martyr Hanumanthappa Koppad and Asha, wife of martyr Nagesh, Hassan.

Later free eye checkup camp was organized for women employees in association with Narayana Netralaya.
Also free health check up organized in association with BGS Global Hospital.

• KSRTC is the first Government organization in the state which has implemented the 33% reservation for the women in jobs.
•Totally, there are 2743 women employees are working in the KSRTC. Among them, 22 are Driver-cum-Conductors, 790 Conductors, 848 Technical Assistants (Mechanics) and 1083 other staff. Totally, there are 37569 officers/officials working in the organization. Among them, 7.3% are women employees.
• Work will be allotted to the women Driver-cum-Conductors, Conductors and Technical Assistants most of the time as per their choice and place.
• No women conductors are allotted to the night halt duties. But, if their native places or their relatives were staying outside places then only on their written request the night halt duties will be alloted.
• There are separate rest room and toilets for the women employees at the depots.
• Women grievance committees are in existence in every division and at Central Offices to avoid sexual harassment to the women employees. The committees having the representation of the NGO.
• To avoid heavy duties to the women technical assistants, it is planned to allot duties in groups with men employees, so that women employees will co-ordinate with heavy work with men in teams.
• Separate block has been provided to the women employees in Duty Rota system and they are allotted only light schedules.
• Maternity leave of 180 days has been implemented in the Corporation wef., 1-4-2012, as in the Government.
• An amount of Rs.500/- per month as Child Care Allowance (for two children only) is being given to the women employees till the child attain the age of two (2) years.
• The women employees are eligible for all other facilities extended to the all employees of the Corporation.
