On the 6th of February, Samskruthi Ladies’ Association celebrated its 16th annual day at Indian Heritage Academy where Roopa Venkatesh was the chief guest. It was a coloorful and entertaining evening compered by Malini Khandige
The evening started with an invocation by Shyamala Krishnan, Latha Krishnamurthi and Supriya Raghu.
Association President Gayathri Madan welcomed the guests, while Secretary Radha Santhakumar read the annual report.
Thereafter, Joint Secretary Vasumathi Srinath introduced the chief guest to the audience.
The winners of various competitions that were held recently were given prizes, while the winners of Smt Samskruthi were crowned by the chief guest
Member Dakshayini who is a budding writer was honoured by the President and Secretary.
The Association every year gives scholarship to two SSLC toppers from Fransiscan Institute School This year the recipients were Durgasree and Chitra.
Roopa Venkatesh is a cancer survivor and does a lot of voluntary work in that field. She has written a handbook to help cancer patients. She is an active Rotarian and is heading an IT company. The vote of thanks was given by Treasurer Antoinette Vincent.
Later, the much awaited cultural programme began. While the flute recital was soothing, the crowd swayed with the dancers be it folk or aerobic or filmy or lavani. The medley and the other songs were accompanied by clapping and foot tapping. A tableau showing some of the eminent women of India was received with pride and nostalgia. The finale, the kitchen orchestra, left the audience asking for more. The members sang danced entertained laughed and enjoyed together.
