Then Whitefield, now ORR / Sarjapur Road, when will it be “Koramangala Rising”.
The citizens in various parts of Bengaluru have taken to the streets to vent their protest at the state of roads, footpaths and other infrastructure.
A few weeks ago, the citizens of Whitefield held a massive protest under the flag of “Whitefield Rising”, an organization representing the residents of the area. Following the protest, a few major roads were taken up for asphalting.
On Friday, 18th December, it was the turn of the Outer Ring Road/ Sarjapur Road community who held a massive rally  at the Iblur Flyover junction protesting against the deplorable state of roads and infrastructure in the area. More than 5000 people, both residents and office goers, participated.
BBMP Joint Commissioner, Mahadevapura, Umanand Rai attended and promised that he will arrange a meeting of area residents with Minister for Bangalore Development, KJ George.
The Koramangala area is also crying out for major infrastructural projects. To give a few examples:
*The much promised Ejipura to Kendriya Sadan Flyover is yet to see the light of day
* The Hosur Road flyover from Silk Board to Forum has now been caught up in a more massive project and is unlikely to take off any time soon.
*The demand for a link road from Ejipura to Agara has yet to make headway thanks to the Government dragging its feet on the matter.
Residents are therefore exploring the possibility of following an example of their Whitefield and Sarjapur Road brethren and organizing a major “Koramangala rising” event.
Perhaps this is what will be required to open the eyes of the Government.
