100th Award for KSRTC
KSRTC bagged its 100th award and most prestigious National Award “Award of Excellence’’ from Ministry of Urban Development, Govt.of India, for the 6th year in a row during the Urban Mobility India Conference held at New Delhi. KSRTC won the award for the initiative of providing Organized City Bus Services in small and medium towns and cities in the state.
KSRTC is the pioneer in introducing city bus services in medium and small cities with 9 buses at Tumkur city. This trend setting initiative has changed the public transport scenario in medium and small cities and towns in the country and this initiative of KSRTC has become the urban transport policy of the Government of India for providing organised city bus services in medium and small cities.
Today, KSRTC is operating city buses in 10 cities with a load-factor of 81%, 7350 trips per day and servicing avg. 3.16 lakhs passengers per day. It is further planned to introduce in another 8 cities. At present in Karnataka 28 cities are operating city bus service.
Babul Supriyo, Minister of State for Urban Development, presented the award to Rajender Kumar Kataria, Managing Director, KSRTC.
