With the motto” born to skate” Esther roller skating club is ceaselessly and constantly daring to make things better. “Clear goals, meticulous practice and commitment have laid the essential foundation for success and to advance confidently in the direction of their dreams” says Esther Bernard with pride as the club celebrates its tenth anniversary.
The president and coach of the club, Esther is an international skater and has won 25 times National gold, three times Asians and one world championship. She has been honoured with Pratibha Puraskar award for the year 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003. She was the youngest skater to represent India at 6th Asian roller championships in the year 1997 and 1999 respectively. She has been awarded as the outstanding sport person in the year 1995. She is also the recipient of young achiever award for the year 1995. She has represented India in the world championship held at France in the year 2001 and stood 24th. Esther has bagged more than 100 medals till now.
Initially the club started its activity at Bethany school, Koramangala. By accepting the universal challenges and identifying unique needs, later in 2007 the club shifted to NGV rangamandira rink.
ERSC has a huge list of skaters who represented the club at various state and National level championships.
1st National skater and 1st one to win the medal for the club was Shreya S. Some of the medal winners of the club are Avidand’soza, Tanya Nanaiah, Anantsubramanyam, Devamma, Prerna M Krishna, Sudeeksha, Priyanka, Bhanushree, Seher and more. Prerana M Krishna has tremendously and consistently kept the club name on top by winning 4 gold medals in 14th state championships and 16th state championship too. She was selected to represent our state in 51st nationals held at Mumbai and she was also selected to represent our country at the open world championships held at Flanders. Along with Prerana M Krishna, Arushi Patel from the club was part of the 16th district team. Arushi Patel has won 1 gold and 2 silver medals in the district selections. Lakshya M Gowda has won 2 bronze medals and Sania Ahmed has won 1 bronze in the 16th district selections. Saiyeeda Misbha has represented our state in national championships held at various places in India. Juan Raunak Bernard is the first skater in the history of ERSC to win a district level medal in below 6years age category. Last Sunday the Club celebrated its 10th anniversary at NGV. The place was filled with energy as the skaters were eager to show their talents. Races were held as a mark of annual day celebration. Children from age group below 6 to 16 years took part in the race with enthusiasm. Senior coaches of the club Raval kumar, Madhusudan and Venkatesh along with the junior trainers Arbaz and Abdul Razak and fitness coach Imran were found adding spirit to the atmosphere, motivating kids to perform well. Students went on March holding the flag with pride. Dance on skates for the numbers waka waka, Shakira’s hit left an exotic experience among the audience.
One of the consistent student of the club Vinayaka M was felicitated on this occasion. Chief guest retd.IPS officer Sangliana graced the occasion by releasing balloons. He congratulated all the skaters for their boundless energy and wished the club to grow beyond limitations. Other guests Christabel Daniel, a special educator and Dr Prashanti from Ambrosia distributed the trophies to the winners. General secretary Rajesh Bernard and the committee member Prasanna Kumar spoke about the progress of the club. Students and parents were found joyously enjoying the occasion.
