B.PAC is proud to announce that for the very first time, participants of B.PAC’s B.CLIP program will contest the upcoming BBMP elections and as many as 20 participants have filed their nominations.
B.CLIP is a flagship program of B.PAC (Bangalore Political Action Committee) aimed at installing civic consciousness and encouraging citizenship among people to be actively engaged in ward level management and administration.
The training imparts skills in public policy analysis, ward mapping and an understanding of ward level issues, municipal administration, political landscape, frameworks for good governance in civic matters etc. The B.PAC Elections 2015 leadership Incubator Program was set up to build a cadre of capable, civic leaders for the city of Bengaluru.
The contesting participants went through the B.CLIP program which is a rigorous 9 month program where participants were equipped with theoretical knowledge, post which they took up impactful community projects showcasing meaningful outcomes.
Through B.CLIP our goal was to provide citizens able and efficient municipal leaders equipped with conceptual and practical knowledge that they can leverage to overcome challenges facing the city
B.PAC is proud to announce that as a first step towards ensuring better governance in the city, 20 civic leaders trained by B.PAC, from across political parties have filed their nominations to contest elections. This is a remarkable development in itself as citizens for the first time know that there are trained people in their ward who have studied and understood the issues in their ward and are passionate about making their ward a better place to live.

B.CLIP Participants over the past 18 months have built a solid track record for themselves by engaging in developmental projects in their communities. They are often recognized as the go- to persons for solving civic issues in their Elections 2015 neighbourhood. They have undertaken projects across a wide spectrum of civic activities. Many of them have been addressing the problems of garbage management and waste segregation in their wards while many others have championed the cause of women empowerment through sexual harassment prevention training, women employment assistance etc. They have also been addressing issues such as Lake conservation, voter registration, public safety etc in their respective wards.
The contesting participants being B.CLIP Alumni have the ability to capitalize on the B.CLIP platform to reach out to several experts to seek professional help for the design of sustainable and impactful solutions to their problems.
Revathy Ashok CEO B.PAC said, ‘We are proud that so many B.CLIP participants are taking the plunge and contesting elections. This is our first step towards bringing in trained good quality contestants to the BBMP elections’.
Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, President B.PAC expressed her joy over this development. She said, “Traditionally the Corporator elections has shown a very low voter turnout ratio. In 2010 the voter turnout was only 45%. We hope that the citizens will come out to vote in large numbers on 22nd August, 2015. ”
T.V. Mohandas Pai Vice President B.PAC said, “Two years ago, B.CLIP was an idea. The fact that 20 participants from this program have felt motivated to contest these elections is a major step.
