Residents of Koramangala 3rd Block were shocked to suddenly see construction equipment and material at the vacant CA-42 site next to the Post Office Grounds in Koramangala 3rd Block on 25th June.
The site, which is a BDA Civic Amenity site was allotted to M/s Ananda Educational Trust for the purpose of construction of a Kannada Medium School.
No work has been undertaken on the site to date and the allottee has taken multiple plan approvals over the years but never commenced construction.
Agitated residents approached the Executive Engineer (BDA-East), Rizwan Baig who sent a team headed by AEE – BDA East, Suresh to the spot. After demanding documents, the BDA Engineers were surprised to find that the construction crew had a copy only of an expired building plan.
BDA Engineers present immediately asked the contractors present to restore the ground to its original condition in the presence of residents.
The episode highlights the need for constant vigilance to protect public spaces from those who have no qualms about violating laws and constructing illegally.
