city kempBenedict Jebakumar and other techies who had been fighting the nail menace on the Outer Ring Road saw a great relief last Friday as the HSR Layout Police arrested one Mangamanapalya resident Pawaz alias Chand Pasha, 20 responsible for throwing nails between Mantri Square apartment and Iblur Circle.
On an average of 25 to 30 vehicles tyres would run flat every day due to this nail menace. Pasha operated his mobile puncture shop little ahead of the nail zone. On seeing anyone pushing their two wheelers, the accused used to offer help and in the process would get replaced with new tubes stating that the nails had damaged the tubes beyond repair.
In this process he made quick money by selling tubes of low quality besides the fixing charges. Few days prior to the arrest of Pasha, techie Benedict Jebakumar had posted a mobile puncture shop operating in the vicinity on the facebook account ‘My Road My Responsibility’.
The police too had taken this as a challenging task and were moving in mufti to nab the culprits. The DCP (South-east) Rohini Katoch had even formed a four-member team and were searching between Agara flyover and Silk Board junction. Surprisingly, Pawaz was caught red handed by them.
In September last year, police had arrested a sugarcane juice vendor cum puncture shop business and a resident of Agara for scattering nails between Silk Board and Marathalli on Outer Ring Road.
