Telescope Making Workshop in May

Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium is organizing a Telescope Making Workshop for general public and students from May 13, 2015. Participants will grind a 200mm dia mirror, assemble and collimate a Newtonian telescope.
The workshop will be for a duration of fifteen days. The workshop will have theory sessions in astronomy, using of Newtonian telescopes etc. Interested may contact office. 080-2237 9725 / 2226 6084
lParticipants prepare a telescope & take it with them
lParticipants can be individual or groups not exceeding three
lOrganisation can also register and send their team.
lHigh school students have to be accompanied by a parent/adult help
lSize of telescope prepared 200mm (8”) f6-f8, Newtonian, Spherical Mirror.
lTwo high quality eye pieces will be given with the telescope
lDobsonian Mounts
lDuration of workshop:
lI phase – May 13-17, 2015 –  Mirror Grinding
lI phase – May 23-24, 2015 – Mirror Polishing
lIII phase – May 30-31, 2015 – Assembly, Collimation of telescope
lLast date for registration April 25, 2015
lWorkshop may not be held if the number of participants is less than 10.
