KSRTC conferred with 2 National Public Transport Innovation Awards

city kempThe KSRTC was conferred with two ASRTU National Public Transport Innovation awards and KSRTC is the only State Road Transport Undertaking in India has won Public Transport Innovation Awards for its innovative projects. The awards were given during the 59th Annual Conference of STUs’ held at Gujarat, by Vijay Chibbar, Secretary, Govt.of India, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Govt. of India to Rajender Kumar Kataria, Managing Director, KSRTC and other officers were present.
The details of the award winning projects: ‘Staff Duty Rota System’: KSRTC is one of the largest employed organisations having staff strength of 37831. Allocation of duty and leave management is very critical & sensitive issue to be handled carefully. In this system the allocation of duty based on their seniority and through counseling. It ensures removal of manual process, bringing transparency, eradication of corruption, increased labour satisfaction and operational efficiency.
‘Use of Alternate fuels in Public Transport & Environment Management’: With a conscious view of conserving and preserving the scare natural resource which is fast depleting, KSRTC has initiated many environment friendly initiatives to protect environment and reduce carbon footprints. The environment friendly initiatives are: Fuel blending, Clean Development Mechanism Project, regular and surprise emission checks, afforestation, solar lighting, water recycling, Rain water harvesting, water softening, training at regular intervals for the staff, solid waste management and many more. Innovative technologies are encouraged, pilot programmes were demonstrated and KSRTC committed to reduce its carbon footprints and protect the environment.
ASRTU – is an Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASRTU), a body under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Govt. of India. It consists of representative body of 62 members from different states in the country, every year they recognize the initiative and performance of the State Road Transport Undertaking and conferred the Awards.
