Ahead of Valentine’s Day, Spoorthy Mahila Sangha (SMS) celebrated its 6th annual day with dress code pink sans men. The celebration was held at Dhyana Mandir at Sri Chamundeshwari Temple premises in Koramangala 8th Block on Tuesday.
The highlight of the day’s celebration was unique and special cultural programmes by the Sangha members which was ably anchored by Shilpa Sreenivas and Reshma. Innovative dance with fusion of Bharatanatya and natyasastra, Zumba- a fusion of aerobics, and the mind blowing performance of ‘Minugu thare Kalpana’ hits performed by the committee members enthralled the audience. Earlier, the Sangha also honoured nine persons from various sections of the society who helped its growth.
The programme began with a prayer and lighting of lamp by Asha Patel who is 73 years old and one of the founder member for “Sangathi Vedike” a matrimony for the senior citizen second marriage. Started in 2005 and locked more than 60 couples who are happy and in contact with the organisation. She is also founder of Uttara Karnataka Sangha which is 20 years old and runs Laughing Club. In her speech Asha Patel said “Spoorthy a crawling baby has been 6 years today and wished to grow big with success along”.
Seema Muralidhar, Sangha President in her speech said that we the women are blessed specially with lot of wisdom, power and knowledge and strength which has lead to form such clubs. Sujatha Satish, Secretary in her speech said the saying that behind a woman there is a man which has been proved by the day’s gathering.
Honours was done at this movement to all the members who have helped in the growth and progress of SMS. Prize distribution was also done for the winners in various activity held before the annual day. Shilpa Sreenivas proposed a vote of thanks.
