Deepavali Delight for 6th Block Pourakarmikas

Last year, 6th Block Koramangala residents contributed generously to felicitate Pourakarmikas of 6th Block and a grand event was conducted. To follow the same tradition, this year too 6th Block Residents’ Welfare Association appealed to residents to contribute towards Deepavali Felicitation Event on 15th October 2017 Sunday.
The 6th Block residents opened their purses and contributed generously. A fund of Rs. 1,43,100/- was collected and Corporator M Chandrappa donated Rs. 15,000/- towards lunch which is included in total amount collected.
The event was started off with Rangoli competition followed by few other games for the ladies and the men. The residents also participated. This time along with Pourakarmikas of 6th block, Valve Men of BWSSB, Street Light Maintenance Dept, Heath Guys (Fogging and Spraying), and gardeners of 6th Block Parks, in all total 70 members were felicitated in this event.
Jayaramu, President of 6th Block RWA, addressed the gathering and thanked all the contributors who enabled us to conduct the event. He thanked the owner of NavyaShree sarees who donated 2kgs of rice to all staff. Home Minster Ramalinga Reddy has expressed his ability to attend the function due to pressing engagements he could not do added by President of RWA Jayramu. President also thanked Office Bearer Hon Secretary Suresh N Gowda, Joint Secretary Neeraja Shetty, Treasurer Bindu Rao and MC Members Archana Murthy, Latha Ramesh,Maria Raj, Nagaraj.K, V.T. Sreenivas, Usha Ravindranath @ Uma, Who worked for a month and made this function happen in a grand success.
A couple of Pourakarmikas spoke and thanked residents for conducting such fun-filled event and felicitating them. They recalled that in their entire career of more than 10 to 15years, the last two years have made them happy as their contribution is being recognized and they are being felicitated. Narasimha, supervisor, spoke about a sense of happiness that 6th block Pourakarmikas are getting gifts but he also felt sad that 5th and 8th block pks are left out. Chandrappa assured that he will encourage all blocks to do similar events.
Few residents spoke about the need to ensure timely salary remittance to all staff and hoped that the Pourakarmikas will keep the surroundings clean, in the future.
Chandrappa Corporator spoke about the responsibilities of pks in ensuring clean environment and requested all Pks to ensure that their equipment is stored in some place not obstructing citizens.
All the Pourakarmikas, Health guys, gardeners, BWSSB Valvemen, Street lights line men were given a gift hamper containing a steel container set of 4no, 2ks Rice, 1kg Dal, 1Kg Jaggery and 1litre Oil, wallets to the men’s and some cash. A total of 70 people were felicitated in this event.
The programme was concluded with a sumptuous lunch and a group photo.
The Managing Committee would like to place on record their deep appreciation to all residents who contributed to the fund. The committee thanks Chandrappa Corporator for sponsoring lunch and all volunteers who helped in making this event a grand success.
