The Management Team of Koramangala Eighth Block Samaja Seva Sangha met the BESCOM engineers of S 4 sub division on 3rd August 2017 and highlighted the problem of frequent & virtually daily multiple power failures in 8th Block for the past 9 months. At times the power is restored after 6 to 7 hours.
This results in Baby food and refrigerated Medicines getting spoilt. It becomes difficult to plan cooking with Mixers, grinders, blenders and Microwave not working due to power failures. No intimation is given in whatsapp group by the BESCOM engineers even for planned shut down for maintenance or when the power is not available for 2 or more hours.
BESCOM engineers stated that some power system improvements like replacement of bare overhead conductors with covered, insulated AB conductors, installation of additional pole/mast mounted Transformers and relocating some transformers are being done progressively to enhance the reliability.
These changes coupled with unscheduled breakdowns have resulted in frequent power failures. They assured the KEBSSS team that by end September the power failures in 8th Block will come down considerably. They also agreed to inform the residents on whatsapp in case of planned maintenance shutdowns and breakdowns lasting more than an hour to avoid difficulties to the power consumers.
