KSRTC conferred with International Public Transport Award -2017

KSRTC was conferred with International Public Transport award for its innovative project ‘Organized City Bus Services at Small and Medium town and cities’. The award was presented to S R Umashankar, Managing Director, KSRTC by Masaki Ogata, UITP President at UITP Global Public Transport Summit held at Montreal, Canada on May 15.
KSRTC is the pioneer in introducing city bus services in small and medium towns and cities in India. At present KSRTC is operating city services in 12 cities with 564 schedules and 9016 trips per day and planned to start city bus services in another 2 cities. For UITP award, 25 applications were submitted from 9 cities in India by 13 organizations. KSRTC is winning this award for the 4th time in a row 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017 .
UITP – International Association of Public Transport established on 17 August 1885 in Brussels, Today it has 1,300 member companies giving access to over 14,000 contacts from 92 countries. UITP members are public transport authorities and operators, policy decision-makers, research institutes and the public transport supply and service industry.
