It was a busy Sunday morning 24 June 2016 for the IFMR group (International Fellowship of Motorcycling Rotarians).
The Motor Chronicles (MC) on Kensington Road, Ulsoor, hosted the meet along with the Rotary Raj Mahal Vilas Club to greet and honour Ms. Esha Gupta; for an astounding tour of 16 states of India, covering 32,079kms in 110 days. The Bajaj Avenger nick-named ‘Mikey’ had a wonderful ‘relation’ when she carried her around effortless with only one puncture!
IFMR made a contribution of US $ 1000/- to The Rotary Foundation (TRF) on Esha Gupta’s behalf to the prestigious title. She joins the world leaders like, Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastry, M S Subblakshmi and an endless list of outstanding leaders in India. Many other notable figures have been named as Paul Harris Fellows, including former US President Jimmy Carter, Russian President Boris Yeltsin, US astronaut James Lovell, UN Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar, and Jonas Salk. The number of Paul Harris Fellows reached the one million mark in 2006.
Esha’s travels told us that majorly, India was safe to drive around for a lady, that people who helped from the biking fraternity and others went a long way in her memory as India being a friendly country. She travelled with several gadgets that her position could be localized anywhere during her tour. Her pictures on the PPT were truly mesmerizing. Her main support and tour plans came in from Ankit who held her had throughout the journey.
The meeting was conducted by IFMR president Nagesh Sidhanthi and RMV president Rtn. Mahadev Dambal. The PHF certificate and the medallions were presented to her. About 24 IFMR members and their families including Rtn. Ahmed khan from Rotary Bangalore Koramangala were present.
