Bisu- new year celebrations of coastal Karnataka

city kempBunts Sammilana – a socio cultural platform of the bunt community organized “Aikyatha-2015″ – a get together & cultural evening celebrating ‘bisu’ (new year of coastal Karnataka) on April 11 at SRS Club in MSRS Nagar.
Dr Ashajyothi Rai- Chairperson of ‘Aasare’ Charitable Trust who presided over the function spoke on the occassion and said” It’s a great pleasure to see these young Bunts have taken up the initiative of getting together community people and celebrating the New Year in a traditional way. These kind of cultural get together will obviously make the younger generation more aware about their roots and heritage.
Karan Shetty- CEO of RJ Builders also wished the youths of the community a great success in their respective fields and said he was very happy to be a part of such a great dynamic community and its culture.
Birth Centenary Celebrations of Mulky Sundar Ram Shetty
The occasion was clubbed with the Birth Centenary Celebration of Mulky Sundar Ram Shetty who was a Modern Architect of Vijaya Bank. The chief guest on the occassion Dr K Shankar Shetty who had closely worked with the great personality said “one of the outstanding contributions of Late Mulky Sundar Ram Shetty was his dynamism in taking an organisation like the Vijaya Bank from a loss making entity to a success story within a short span of few years under his Chairmanship.
The Vijaya Bank grew from 18 Branches to over 500 Branches under his Chairmanship and from a paltry deposit of few lakhs to over 500 cr business.
The love for the upliftment of the people and his commitment to help the community and in turn the Nation was outstanding. Sundar Ram Shetty had many great personal friends and he had single handedly appointed over 9000 staffs during his tenure as Chairman of Vijaya Bank.
The President of Bunts Sammilana Prem Prasad Shetty who delivered the Introductory Speech said “Bunts Sammilana” is not a caste based organisation but a cultural movement trying to imbibe the great cultural ethos and heritage of the Bunts Community in Bengaluru. The organisation has already initiated various service activities which would be of great use to the society. The organisation has also launched an Awareness Campaign platform and service organization in the name of ‘SANCHALANA’ last year and through the said organisation tried to take up many social issues and service activities to the entire community irrespective of caste, creed or religion.
Kaup Diwakar Shetty, President-Vijaya Bank EHCS, KR Shetty-MSRS Nagar RWA, Surendra Shetty-, President-SRS Nagar Club, Virupaksha Shetty, President, Vijaya Enclave AOA,  Dhiraj Nayarkodi, Secretary, Bunts Sammilana were present on the occassion.
Cultural Evening:
‘Sanathana Rashtranjali’- a Song & Dance display by Sanathana Nrutyalaya, Mangaluru & Chitra Mithra -Art performace by Sri Prashanth Shetty enthralled the audience.
