Spoorthi Mahila Sangha (SMS) celebrated its 8th annual day on January 9 at YWCA Hall.
A very special day to all for having Smt. Vimala Hiremath as the chief guest. Vimala is the former Principal of Fathima Girls High School for nearly 34 years. Presently she is serving as director of Sri Veerabadra Swamy free residential school and also at Samarthnam trust too.
Seema Muralidhar, President of SMS welcomed the gathering and Annapurna Honnahalli, Secretary of SMS addressed the gathering. Smt. Vimala Hiremath was honoured on behalf of the gathering. Her speech about the logo of the club and praised the journey of SMS for the past years. Her speech enlightened the spirit of the members. The entire programme was hosted by Shilpa Sreenivas.
SMS invited Gerizim rehabilitaion centre and presented a cheque, which will continue every year on the annual day. Vimala Hiremath gave up prizes for several competition winners.
Kannada handwriting compitetion winners: Shubada Shetty- 1st prrize
Sudha Nagaraj – 2nd prize, Reshma Srihar- 3rd prize. Non Kannada member winners: Nisha 1st prize, Susheela 2nd prize. Quiz winners: Aruna and Shaila- 1st prize, Renu Kumari and Sudha Nagaraj; 2nd prize. Tharini and Nisha 3rd prize. Grains rangoli winners: Navya 1st prize, Tharini and Reshma 2nd prize, Girija 3rd prize Sudha Nagaraj, Preethi 4th prize. Paper jewellery competition winners: Mamatha and Vinitha 1st prize, Usha and Reshma 2nd prize, Jyothsana and Aruna 3rd prize, Chandrkala and Girija 4th prize, Vijayalakshmi and Preethi 4th prize.
Up next was the cultural program from the members, who took up the task to perform with their children. Cute little children choreographed and rocked the stage. Anuradha and team gave a colourful performance. A comedy skit by Shilpa Sreenivas and Annapurna. “Sarees of India ” was the theme for the fashion show hosted by Durga Rani. 13 members walked on the ramp with different styles of saree draping. Followed by National Anthem. Lunch was arranged and sponsored by a member Vijayalakshmi. Smt Vimala Hiremath handed over the goodies for the children who participated and also for the rest of the participant members.
