Well known senior citizen and Koramangala resident Uma Pai has received an Award called “Woman of The Future Award”, WOTFA, institituted at Jaipur with support from Ms. Kunnika Sadanand, of small screen fame, and the brand owner Ms. Sweety Soni.
The selection was based on the nominations received, which examines the persons merit, achievements in life, community work, professional career and other extraordinary goals achieved by the particular lady, being a trend setter for future. There is a panel of 7 luminaries in various fields who sit and judge all the nominations received, from all over India. A gala evening function was held at Birla Auditorium, Jaipur, on September 23, where as many as 55 ladies were honoured with the title, in different fields.
Uma Pai was selected based on her entering the man’s domain of real estate way back in 1985; a single mother of three kids; community work- through RWAs especially in Pinkathon Runs; TCS Namma Bengaluru Sr. Citizen Run; public demonstrations etc Pink Hope Cancer Survivor Support Group; and for serving as President of the Inner Wheel Club Bangalore, Koramangala for a period of three years.
There was Ms. Tomar Daadi, known as Hunter Daadi, who has acted in several Hindi Films and TV Serials, who was also honoured. There were special educators, designers of repute, Ms. India Asia Pacific Title Holder, burns victim, HIV-AIDS volunteers etc.
The proceeds of the Gala Show, after all the expenses were met, a sum of Rs. 50,0001was donated for the treatment of a girl child of 22 months suffering from Leukamia, being treated at Bhagvan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, headed ably by the highly philanthropical family of Kothari, headed by Ms. Anila Kothari, who are rendering yeoman free services to Cancer Patients, young and old.
