Song on Environment Released

Anthem Bangalore Children (2)City Kemp News

A motivational song available in various Indian languages entitled “Anthem for Environment” was released at a function in Koramangala 3rd Block Library Hall on Sunday 12th March 2017.
The music for the song was originally composed by Sujatha Vijayaraghavan, a bilingual writer, musician and dance scholar based in Chennai in 1991. The original lyrics for the song were composed in Tamil and the song was meant to be sung by children of nearby residential neighbourhoods to promote a clean and green environment.
Composed in the Classical Carnatic raga Hamsadhvani, the words and the melody are simple for group singing.
Motivated by the launch of the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan program, Sujatha Vijayaraghavan undertook the task of translating the song into Kannada and other regional languages for wide dissemination all over the country. The Kannada version and versions in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and Sanskrit were rendered by two groups of classical music students – trained by Smt Sumitra Nitin of Koramangala and Smt Sudha Raja of Chennai. Many scenes of street cleaning and black spot removal by the Koramangala 3rd Block Residents Welfare Association have been featured in the film.
The translations into various languages have been done by senior classical Bharatanatyam artists and Gurus, who have won national honours.. It has been a labour of love for all the translators and the children who have sung the song. Swathi Soft Solutions, has come forward to have all the videos of the songs and lyrics in various languages as free downloads on their website.
Translations into other Indian languages are also planned.
