Cab driver bids goodbye to 2016, his heart lives on to welcome the New Year

Another Heart Transplant performed at M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre on Wednesday.
A 27 year old cab driver from Hesaraghatta taluk met with a road accident on the eve of Christmas near Kodur on Hassan Highway. He was rushed to M S Ramaiah Hospital in Mattikere and was being treated there. However, on 28th December, the doctors declared him brain dead. The family consented for organ donation and his heart was transplanted to a 65 year old male at M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre.
The recipient was suffering from Dilated Cardiomyopathy since four years and required a heart transplant to survive. He had registered with ZCCK a week back and underwent a successful heart transplant on 28th December, 2016.
The team comprised of Dr. P V Rao, Senior Cardiothoracic Transplant Surgeon, Dr. Nagamalesh U M, Senior Consultant Cardiologist and Dr. Ravi Nayak, Cardiac Anesthetist from M S Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre.
While 27 year old cab driver bid goodbye to 2016, his heart lives on to welcome the New Year.
