Can a Senior IAS Officer lack ‘Administrative Prudence’ ?

And if he does lack this prudence, is his continuation in the State Bureaucracy even tenable ? These are the questions going through civil society in Koramangala in the wake of the orders passed by the UDD Additional Chief Secretary Mahendra Jain on the plea to prosecute the former Commissioner of the BBMP Sri Lakshminarayana for showing undue favours to the Breakfast Club, a restaurant promoted among others by the son of IT Honcho Mohandas Pai.
Even more curiously, the order answers “Yes and No” to the basic question of whether Sri Lakshminarayana was guilty of irregularities during the sanction process. The answer “Yes and No” would appear to indicate that the obvious answer was a “Yes” but political compulsions have forced Mr Jain to respond with a ridiculous reply.
Civil society members have vowed to challenge the verdict before the Karnataka High Court and ask for justice
