Like every year, this year also Navratri Festival will be celebrated at the Chamundeswari Temple premises in 8th Block Koramangala under the aegis of K R Nanjappa Layout residents of 8th Block. The festivities will begin on October 1 and will end on October 10.
The residents from K R Nanjappa Layout had started celebrating this festival 6 years back in Chamundeswari Temple, and this will be their 7th year celebration. “During the initial years there was not much participation, but from last few years it’s reasonably good, and last year saw lots of gathering”, according to the residents.
“We do Pooja, Aarti of Goddess and then do Garba and Dandiya-Rass which are Gujarathi folk dances, especially played in front of the Goddess, on occasion of this Navratri festival only for 9 days. It’s very nice feeling to see people from different Stated dancing on this Gujarati religious dance style in front of Goddess Chamundeswari”, says the resident and organiser Prakash Raval.
“We started giving special prizes from last year for best dressed girl and boy and also best dancing boy and girl with daily some surprise gifts to all”, he says.
“We also celebrate the Sharad Purnima Day (Full Moon day, 5th day after Dasara) at Chamundeswari Temple premise here. As we celebrated 9 days of Navratri, this day celebration also goes the same way”, he says.
“On Sharad Purmina day, we pray in front of Goddess, we also do Sathyanarayan Pooja, Aarti for Goddess and play Garba and Dandiya Raas. On that day we serve special Prasadam, which is called “Dudh-Poha”. As you know this is made from Milk and Rice Flakes. This is served in Purnima’s full moon light. This is known to be very pious Prasadam”, says Prakash and adds”There is also a saying and belief that eating this special Prasadam in full moon light is very good for health, especially for eyes.”
There is no fee/charge/donations taken from anyone for these celebrations unlike the one being celebrated at Palace grounds and other places where people have to pay per head per day to participate. Those who want to participate may contact  9902099312, 9448354625.
